Successful Turkish programmes
Three good news can be stated for the Turkish Navy modernization programmes. The Turkish shipping company SEDEF Shipyard will complete the landing helicopter dock (LHD) ANADOLU two years earlier and the state is supposed to work on a plan for the second LHD tender. TCG Anadolu (L-408) is an amphibious assault ship (LHD) of the Turkish Navy that can be configured as a light aircraft carrier. Construction works began on April 30, 2016 at the shipyard of SEDEF in Istanbul and was originally expected to be completed in 2021.
Second good news is, the third and fourth MILGEM corvettes (F-513 and F-514) are expected to be deployed at the end of this year, according to Vice Admiral Ahmet Cakir, Commander of the Shipyards. The MILGEM corvettes are modern littoral combat warship with indigenous anti-submarine warfare and high-seas patrol capabilities, using the principles of stealth technology in its design.
Last but not least the Turkish university Yildiz Teknik Üniversitesi has started to work with the Turkish SEALs Swimmer Delivery Vehicle (SDV).
